BBQ of KC (Part 4)
This is the fourth part of my series. If you haven't read it yet, please check out Part 1: https://bbqofkc.blogspot.com/2025/09/bbq-of-kc.html
Feels like I’ve been here a year. Though technically, I’m still about 3 months shy. And just as I was getting acclimated; winter has come. I have no complaints about Missouri summer (though that level of humidity was new to me) but winter here now is colder than it is in Pennsylvania and there is more snow. And yes—some Kansas City barbecue joints actually shut down seasonally, as seen in this photo. Naturally, this demanded further investigation.
Rosedale Bar-B-Q
Their sauce has a spice in it that I swear is reminiscent of Oldbay but they keeps their recipe close and have not confirmed or denied it. They’ve been around since 1934, so it’s likely a different blend, but it definitely has that same savory taste. I was happy to see the dish served with four large slices of bread. In fact, maybe the best indicator that it's true KC style is that it comes with sandwich bread.

Harp Barbecue
I ordered ribs and asked for no sides, but when the owner sarcastically complained, I let him choose the coleslaw for me—and it was great! He mentioned that he smokes the ribs with white cedar and uses a simple salt-and-pepper rub, which he explained when he came out to chat with me—and wow, the meat quality is excellent!

Jazzy B's BBQ
Another barbecue restaurant that loves live music as evidenced by the stage and instruments hanging on the wall. The real 'hook' here, though, is their sauce—they have a blueberry falvored hot sauce. It’s a very unique and tasty twist on traditional BBQ sauce and fall off the bone meat.
KPOT Korean BBQ
Worth mentioning in the barbecue capital simply because the folks at home I know have not seen a grill in their table where you cook the meat yourself, but here I am trying out the beef short ribs and bulgogi; and they were amazing. A great twist on the local BBQ scene.

Blind Box BBQ
This Shawnee KS location as a stylish and welcoming destination that balances traditional barbecue with a contemporary atmosphere. Good mix between fall of the bone and having a bite to it but the sauce was great. The line gets so busy, so even though I wanted to sit by the outdoor fire pit and hear live music, I got it door dashed instead.

American Way Smokehouse
This spot serves up fantastic burnt ends! The shop is uniquely connected to an antique store and features a condiment tray with an impressive variety of hot sauces. I sampled three different ones and particularly loved the 'Golden' sauce—a delicious mustard-based blend. To top it off, they even gave me a free cookie for sharing my experience!

F325
The name of this restaurant stands for Fahrenheit 325, which is a competition-level temperature for cooking barbecue. Fahrenheit is a difficult word to spell, so they had to shorten it. Despite the name, the ribs are actually cooked 'low and slow' at around 265°F. However, the owners got their start in 'hot and fast' competitions, so the name remains. The ribs were a 10/10—I tried both the original and hot sauces, and by the time I was finished, there wasn’t a speck of meat left on the bone. After I mentioned this blog, the owners even let me sample their delicious sides and burnt ends!
